Flap Diverter Valves are widely used flow diversion devices for dry bulk solid materials in industrial conveying systems. Relying on a built-in swing flap, they switch or split material flow between two pipelines, applicable to pulverized coal, grains, wood chips, ore powder, chemical granules and other powdery and granular materials. They are extensively deployed in power plants, coal preparation plants, cement factories, metallurgy, grain processing and chemical industries. Designed for continuous material distribution and pipeline switching, this valve features compact structure, flexible operation and stable performance, serving as a key auxiliary unit to ensure orderly material transportation across production lines.
The working principle is based on mechanical flap deflection and material gravity. Raw materials fall into the valve body from the upper inlet under gravity. The internal swing flap acts as the core diversion component. By adjusting the flap angle or position, materials can be guided entirely to one outlet for single-line conveying, or divided proportionally to two outlets for material distribution. Most models support manual, pneumatic or electric driving modes to control the flap movement flexibly. The whole flow channel is streamlined, which keeps material resistance low and effectively avoids material accumulation, bridging and blockage during long-term continuous operation. Whether for positive pressure or negative pressure conveying pipelines, the valve can maintain smooth material delivery and accurate flow switching.
The valve body is fabricated with high-strength carbon steel, and the inner cavity and flap surface are equipped with wear-resistant liners to resist continuous scouring from hard particles. The rotating shaft is fitted with dust-proof bearings and sealing assemblies, ensuring the flap swings freely without jamming, dust ingress or material leakage. Inlet and outlet ports adopt standard flange connections, which allow quick installation and easy matching with existing conveying pipelines, requiring no large-scale pipeline modification. The overall layout is space-saving and adaptable to vertical, inclined and horizontal pipeline arrangements. Some enhanced versions adopt fully enclosed structures to suppress dust emission and meet strict on-site environmental requirements.
Flap Diverter Valves deliver distinct practical advantages. First, diverse driving options make them suitable for on-site manual operation and remote automatic control, easy to integrate with central control systems. Second, the streamlined internal structure brings low flow resistance and high passing efficiency. Third, wear-resistant components extend service life and cut replacement frequency. The simple mechanical structure also means easy inspection, cleaning and maintenance, reducing overall operating costs. Besides, it can handle materials with different particle sizes and moderate moisture content, showing strong adaptability to various working conditions.
As a conventional and reliable diversion equipment, Flap Diverter Valves undertake the important task of flow switching and material splitting in bulk conveying systems. It improves the flexibility and rationality of material distribution, guarantees stable and continuous operation of the entire conveying line, and has become a widely accepted standard equipment for modern industrial bulk material handling.
