The wafer type ventilation butterfly valve is a compact, space-saving flow control device widely adopted in modern ventilation and duct systems. Different from flange-connected valves with bulky structures, it features a slim wafer design that clamps directly between two pipe flanges. Thanks to its lightweight body, easy installation and reliable performance, it has become a mainstream choice for space-limited ventilation pipelines, undertaking airflow regulation, pressure balancing and pipeline shut-off tasks in various industrial and commercial ductwork.
This valve consists of a thin-profile wafer body, butterfly disc, integrated valve stem, sealing ring and optional operating mechanism. The main body is commonly made of carbon steel, galvanized steel or stainless steel, with streamlined overall outline and precise machining. The disc rotates within a 90-degree range to switch between fully open, partial throttling and fully closed states. When fully open, the disc aligns with airflow to create minimal pressure drop and ensure efficient air delivery. When fully closed, the disc fits tightly against the surrounding seal to block airflow effectively. It can be fitted with manual lever, electric or pneumatic actuators to satisfy on-site adjustment and remote automatic control needs. The wafer structure requires no extra connecting flanges, and it is firmly fixed by bolts penetrating the adjacent pipe flanges, which greatly simplifies assembly work.
This product possesses multiple distinct advantages. First of all, its ultra-compact structure occupies much less installation space, making it ideal for narrow pipeline layouts, ceiling concealed ducts and densely arranged equipment areas. Secondly, the lightweight design reduces the overall load of the duct system, avoiding extra stress on pipes and supporting structures. The optimized sealing structure delivers good airtightness, effectively preventing air leakage under normal working pressure. In addition, the simple internal structure includes fewer moving parts, resulting in a low failure rate and convenient daily inspection and maintenance. It also boasts favorable cost performance with reasonable price compared with traditional flange butterfly valves.
With strong adaptability, the wafer type version works steadily in normal temperature ventilation, air conditioning exhaust, dust removal and low-temperature flue gas systems. It can withstand regular positive and negative wind pressure and is not prone to deformation after long-term operation. A complete range of standard sizes is available to match various round and rectangular duct specifications, covering diversified engineering demands.
It is extensively used in commercial building HVAC systems, office ventilation pipelines, underground garages, factory workshop exhaust systems, light industrial dust removal lines and environmental protection air duct projects. As a practical and space-efficient duct control component, the wafer type ventilation butterfly valve perfectly balances compact structure, stable performance and economic value, and is widely recognized by engineering designers and construction contractors.
